Lode Runner: Apple II reverse engineering#
This is a browsable HTML edition of lode_runner_reveng, XekriRedmane's literate disassembly of Doug Smith's Lode Runner (Broderbund, 1983) for the Apple II. His literate source main.nw explains the game's 6502 code and assembles byte for byte to the original game; its rendered reading view is the PDF main.pdf in his repository.
This edition is part of the a2-lode-runner project. The LaTeX prose of main.nw was converted to Markdown, with tables and diagrams redrawn as Markdown tables and Mermaid charts, and woven into these pages with a pipeline adapted from XekriRedmane's ultima1_reveng.
The text is XekriRedmane's. Additions by the a2-lode-runner project are marked like this:
(
a2-lode-runner): An addition by this project.
For a worked example, see Chapter 3, Apple II Graphics, which carries findings from the sibling project a2-hires-lab.
Screenshots were taken from the original game running in AppleWin.
